After more than 10 years, the slender-billed Gull breeds again at the old Sant Antoni Saltpans!

The actions executed for the action C11 of the project, mainly the creation of breeding islands, show already their first results. At the new islands, resulting from breaking old dikes, there's a slender-billed gull (Larus genei) breeding colony, with 45 pairs, some of them with chicks already. This species last evidence of breeding in this site is from more than 10 years ago probably because of the presence of terrestrial predators. Other species breeding at the site are the little tern (Sterna albifrons) with 53 pairs, the common redshank (Tringa totanus), the kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus), the black-winged stilt (Himantopus himantopus), the pied avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) and the common tern (Sterna hirundo).
