New breeding colony of Sandwich Tern (Sterna sandvicensis) at the old salt ponds of Sant Antoni!

During the first prospections of the bird breeding colonies of the old salt ponds of Sant Antoni, a little colony (18 pairs) of Sandwich Terns (Sterna sandvicensis) was detected and it's new in this spot. Usually this species breeds in Punta de la Banya and Punta del Fangar. This success comes after some LIFE project actions like the creation of new breeding islands for seagulls and waders. We also detected other colonies of Gull-billed Tern (Sterna nilotica), Slender-billed Gull (Larus genei), Audouin's Gull (Larus audouinii), Little Tern (Sterna albifrons) and Pied Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta).
